John Fisher Free Legal Advice Session
In 2001 Brent CAB, in partnership with international law firm Clyde & Co, set up the John Fisher Free Legal Advice sessions at the Bureau in Willesden. Here experienced solicitors and barristers carry out pro bono work on issues including sex and race discrimination, redundancy and maternity rights in employment, personal injury, consumer matters and divorce. The clinic has been an invaluable addition to Brent CAB service.
"Aside from the obvious benefit that it is very
satisfying to help those who would otherwise have
nowhere to go, I think that my research, drafting and
people skills have all improved due to the work I do
at Brent Citizens Advice Bureau"

The Advice Line
The Brent CAB Call Centre is located at our main
offices in Willesden.
The Call Centre was set up to create easier access to
Brent CAB service.
To increase efficiency the centre is fully
computerized with information and case records stored
on a network.
When a client phones in, the adviser will create a
case record on screen and will access the CAB
electronic Information System as well as the centre's
own Borough wide local information system.
If a more detailed interview is required, the client
will be referred to the Bureau or to an appropriate
non-CAB agency.
Lines are open between 9.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday
and the phone enquiries received covers the same as
face to face enquiries.
Specialist Help Service
Thanks to the Legal Service Commission we are able to
provide a specialist help service in the areas of
debt, housing, immigration and welfare benefits. Our
specialist advisers take on casework and if
appropriate represent cases at tribunals.

Mediation Service
Mediation is a quicker and easier way to resolve a dispute than going to Court. At Brent CAB we are able to provide a trained professional mediator who will act as a neutral third person in your dispute in order to find a solution which is acceptable to both parties. Mediation is appropriate for all sorts of disputes in areas including Housing, Debt, Consumer Issues, Contract, Employment, Personal Injury and Discrimination. All proceedings are strictly confidential and so cannot be referred to in any subsequent court action if mediation is unsuccessful.
